Israeli strikes in Jabalia kill 17, including nine children

At least 17 people, including nine children, have been killed in Israeli air strikes on Jabalia refugee camp, the Palestinian Civil Defence said today.

“There are 17 martyrs, including nine children, in Israeli air raids in Jabalia,” civil defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal said.

Israeli forces launched a new offensive on the camp, with tanks invading and residential homes targeted in heavy overnight strikes. Tanks have now encircled the camp, trapping families inside.

Journalist Hassan Hamad was reported to be among the dead, with colleagues saying his home was "deliberately targeted" following repeated threats from Israeli officials to stop his reporting.
