24 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes on school and mosque
At least 24 Palestinians, including children, have been killed in two separate Israeli attacks on a mosque and school where hundreds of displaced people were sheltering in central Gaza.
Twenty-one Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike targeting al-Aqsa Martyrs Mosque in Deir al-Balah and a further three people were killed in an attack on Ibn Rushd school in al-Zawaida.
“These two heinous massacres come after a series of atrocities committed by the Israeli army, including airstrikes on 27 homes, schools and shelters across Gaza over the past 48 hours, resulting in the deaths and injuries of dozens of Palestinians,” Gaza's government media office said in a statement.
Turkey's Anadolu news agency, citing medical sources, reported that many of the victims were children. According to the report, emergency teams said several children's bodies arrived at hospitals decapitated.
According to the enclave's health ministry, 45 Palestinians have been killed and 256 injured in Israeli attacks in the last 24 hours.
