Lebanon’s health care system near collapse, warns UN official
Lebanon's humanitarian crisis is worsening as Israeli air strikes increasingly target health and civilian infrastructure.
Since October 2023, at least 77 healthcare workers have been killed while on duty, with nearly a third of these deaths occurring within just 24 hours between 2 and 3 of October, according to the UN's World Health Organization.
Imran Riza, the UN Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon, expressed concern over the “alarming increase in attacks” on healthcare workers, warning that “the health system is on the brink of collapse.”
Throughout the past days we have been witnessing an alarming increase in attacks against healthcare in #Lebaon.
