Reuters earlier reported on a suspected shooting attack in southern Israel. Al Jazeera, citing the national ambulance service, now reports that eight people have been wounded in a stabbing attack at the central bus station in Beersheba, southern Israel.
The suspected assailant was shot dead by Israeli forces. Police are investigating whether a firearm was also used.
Israeli police said on Sunday several people had been injured in a suspected shooting attack in the city of Beersheba in the country's south and that the attacker had been "neutralised".

Hezbollah said its fighters fired rockets at the Israeli military's Hadab Yarine site and achieved a direct hit.
As the olive harvest season began in Palestine, Hasem Salama took his family to their land in the al-Lubban al-Gharbi village, northwest of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
Before they could begin picking their olives, more than 50 masked and armed Israeli settlers appeared as soon as they arrived on Saturday morning.
They attacked them and beat them without justification, Salama said, leaving 11 people wounded, including women and a child.
"My nephew, who is seven years old, suffered bruises after they beat him without hesitation,” Salama told Middle East Eye.
“Two of the women sustained injuries to their hands during the barbaric attack," he added.
When they tried to push back against the attackers, the settlers intensified their assault, swinging iron pipes at the Palestinian residents.
Many people suffered bone fractures, including Salama, whose legs were wounded, leaving him unable to stand.
Israeli forces eventually arrived at the scene. However, eyewitnesses reported that they sided with the settlers, helping to expel the residents from the area without arresting any of the attackers.
"This is not the first time we have been attacked while picking olives, but it is the most brutal,” said Jasser Samhan, a landowner in the village.
“The army supported them and fired sound bombs at us to force us to leave our land and trees.”

The Israeli military said the air strike targeting the Khalifa bin Zayed School in northern Gaza was aimed at Hamas fighters.
In a statement, the army said the former school was being used to coordinate attacks against Israeli forces, though no evidence was provided to support these claims.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) reported that about 20,000 Palestinian refugees have been forcibly displaced by Israeli strikes in Lebanon.
The agency said it has set up emergency shelters to house over 4,300 displaced people, adding that they are filling up fast amid intensifying Israeli bombardment.
In a post on X, the agency said it "stands ready to open more shelters and address increasing humanitarian needs as the situation worsens".

Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, has awarded the commander of the aerospace division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) with one of the highest military honours for last week's missile attack on Israel.
Amir Ali Hajizadeh was awarded the Order of Fath (Conquest) in front of Iran’s top military commanders.
Two Israeli missiles are suspected to have hit a car factory in Syria's Homs governorate, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
Earlier reports indicated that a blast had been heard in the area and the cause was under investigation.
According to the Iraqi Sabereen News outlet, at least one person was killed and three others were wounded after a strike targeted vehicles said to be carrying aid deliveries.
Al Jazeera reported a "massive explosion" resulting from a new air strike targeting Beirut's southern suburbs.
The targeted area is near the international airport, the same site where Israeli strikes have been pounding since Thursday.
Israeli forces conducted over 30 air strikes across the southern suburb overnight, with emergency services still barred from accessing the area.
The Israeli military said Hacher Ali Tawil, a Hezbollah commander, was killed in an air strike targeting the southern Lebanese village of Kafr Kila.
The army claimed that Tawil had led a deadly missile attack on Israel in January.
Al-Quds Brigades, the paramilitary wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks on Israeli troops in northern Gaza.
In Beit Hanoun, the group said its fighters "sniped" an Israeli soldier in Beit Hanoun "in conjunction with the Qassam Brigades."
The group also said it had targeted “a command and control room” belonging to the Israeli forces conducting an incursion into the Jabalia camp in northern Gaza.
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi has called for a "desperately needed ceasefire" after visiting displaced families sheltering in schools in Beirut. He urged the international community to "step up humanitarian support to those in need".

The Israeli army has issued "urgent" evacuation orders for 25 villages in southern Lebanon, ahead of an expected expansion of its ground offensive.
"Don't go south," Avichay Adraee, the army's Arabic-language spokesperson told residents, instructing them to move north of the Awali River or risk "putting their lives in danger."
The Israeli military has announced that it has sent additional troops and arms to Gaza, including reinforcements in the Netzarim Corridor and along the enclave’s borders.
These extra forces are in addition to three divisions already operating in the strip and pledged to “destroy terrorist infrastructures and undermine Hamas’ capabilities until all the war’s goals are achieved”.
It added that there will be no reduction of forces in Rafah or in the Philadelphi Corridor, which runs along Gaza's border with Egypt.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for peace ahead of the one-year anniversary of Israel's war on Gaza.
"The 7th of October is naturally a day to focus on the events of that awful day. I express my solidarity with all the victims and their loved ones," Guterres said in a video message.
"The war that has followed the terrible attacks of one year ago continues to shatter lives and inflict profound human suffering for Palestinians in Gaza and now the people of Lebanon," he added. "It is time for the release of the hostages, time to silence the guns, time to stop the suffering that has engulfed the region, time for peace, international law and justice.”
