Hezbollah claimed credit for a deadly attack on Binyamina in central Israel that it said targeted the a camp belonging to the Golani Brigade.

Hezbollah said it attacked the military camp with a "swarm of drones" on Sunday.

The attack injured at least 39, according to Israel's Army Radio.

Video footage from the scene showed Israeli soldiers racing to evacuate wounded comrades. 

Israel's Army Radio said the drone overpowered the country's air defence system because other projectiles were fired along with it.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for attacks in northern Israel and the occupied Golan Heights.

Hezbollah said it  "accurately” hit Israel's  Zar’it barrack in northern Israel.

It also said it attacked the Tsnobar logistics base in the Golan Heights with a missile.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is considering naming David Friedman, former US Ambassador to Israel, as the US's  Ambassador to the UN or Secretary of State, if he wins the 2024 presidential election, according to a media report by Belaaz. 

Friedman is an arch, and hawkish, supporter of Israel who played a key role moving the US embassy to Jerusalem and pushing for the 2020 Abraham Accords.

The casualty count from a drone strike in Binyamina in central Israel has risen to 39. 

Israeli Army Radio says the drone was fired by Hezbollah. 

Video footage from the scene shows Israeli soldiers evacuating wounded. 

The attack injured at least 39 people, including 4 in critical condition. 12 people suffered middle to severe injures.

Israel has issued an explanation for why its soldiers stormed a Unifil base, saying that its soldiers used the UN peacekeeping base "for the sake of evacuating" wounded Israeli soldiers.

The explanation is likely to raise even more concerns about the Israeli action, as Israel often accuses Hamas and Hezbollah of using UN faciltities as shields.

The Israeli army said its forces in southern Lebanon suffered a “massive” anti-tank missile. 

“In the shooting, two soldiers were seriously injured and needed to be evacuated. For the sake of evacuating the wounded, two tanks drove backward, in a place where they could not advance otherwise in light of the threat of shooting, a few meters towards the UNIFIL position,” the army said in a statement.

 Two children have suffered bullet injuries from Israeli fire during an assault in Beit Furik, near Nablus in the occupied West Bank, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said.

There has been no let up in Israeli strikes on Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, according to journalists on the ground. 

"The violent Israeli shelling of Jabalia camp has escalated, coinciding with the most intense artillery shelling yet," Al Jazeera journalist Anas Al-Sharif is reporting.

"The occupation forces are carrying out bombing and detonation operations against citizens' homes, in light of the continued comprehensive siege and encirclement of northern Gaza". 

According to the Associated Press, Israel is weighing a plan to starve northern Gaza civilians.

The Pentagon has confirmed it is sending a THAAD missile defence system and US troops to Israel, publicly acknowledging that US troops will be on the ground assisting in Israel's defence. 

Pentagon press secretary Pat Ryder said in a statement that Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin “authorised the deployment of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery and associated crew of US military personnel to Israel to help bolster Israel’s air defences following Iran’s unprecedented attacks against Israel on April 13 and again on October 1".

At least five children were killed on Sunday in an Israeli air strike in northern Gaza, the Palestinian Wafa news agency has reported.

An Israeli drone attacked a group of children playing near a cafe in al-Shati refugee camp, Wafa reported.  

Israel is currently laying siege to northern Gaza. The UN says about 400,000 people are trapped there and Israel is shooting at residents trying to flee south.

The UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, Unifil, said its peacekeepers were being treated for skin irritation and gastrointestinal reactions, after Israel fired smoke-emitting rounds 100 metres from their camp. 

The incident happened after two Israeli Merkava tanks destroyed the main gate of a Unifil base in Ramya, a village in southern Lebanon. 

The Israeli soldiers requested the camp turn off its light. They stayed in the base for 45 minutes until withdrawing after Unifil protested.

The Biden administration plans to send an advanced antimissile system to Israel along with 100 American troops to operate it, in an unprecedented enlargement of the US's on-the-ground footprint in Israel.

The Wall Street Journal confirmed that the US planned to deploy a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (Thaad) interceptor designed to shoot down ballistic missiles, as the US and Israel weigh a retaliatory strike on Iran for its attack on Israel. 

Israeli news outlets first reported the deliberations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly weighing a plan to halt aid to the northern Gaza Strip, according to the Associated Press.

If implemented, the plan could intensify the siege on hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and effectively starve people who are either unwilling or unable to leave the area. 

Under the proposed plan, civilians who remain in northern Gaza would be classified as combatants, allowing Israeli troops to kill them.

According to a copy of the plan obtained by the Associated Press, they would be denied access to food, water, medicine, and fuel.

The Unifil peacekeeping force in Lebanon reported new violations by Israeli forces, including the destruction of its main gate by Israeli tanks on Sunday. 

Unifil also stated that 15 peacekeepers were injured by smoke after Israeli forces fired several rounds at the same location. 

The peacekeepers have requested an explanation from the Israeli army regarding these "shocking violations".

The Israeli tax authority has estimated the financial damage caused by the recent Iranian bombing to be between $40m and $53m, according to a report from Bloomberg.

This would make it the most expensive attack since the beginning of the war.

Damage to the Israeli Air Force bases of Tel Nof and Nevatim, which were significantly hit, were not included in the calculations.
