Israel releases tax revenue to Palestinian Authority

Israel has released 435 million shekels ($116m) of tax revenue it was withholding from the Palestinian Authority, according to the Israeli and Palestinian finance ministries.

The transfer to the Palestinian Authority (PA) is the first of its kind since April and comes after Norway warned that the PA could collapse this summer because of its poor finances.

Far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has been opposing releasing funds to the PA.

Israel announced the funds were released the same day it seized five square miles of land in the occupied West Bank.
