Israeli military preparing for major attacks on Iran, Lebanon and Gaza: Reports

Israeli media is reporting that its military is gearing up for large-scale attacks on Iran, Lebanon and Gaza.

The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation reported that the army is preparing for a "significant and difficult" assault on Iran in response to Tehran's ballistic missile attack on Israel earlier this week, which was in retaliation for the assassinations of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.

“The army is planning a significant response to Iran’s missile attack, which, while not causing significant damage, cannot go unanswered. The military is preparing for a severe strike,” the media outlet said.

It added that Israel expects "significant cooperation" from its western allies in the planned assault.

Michael E. Kurilla, commander of US Central Command, is expected to visit Israel this week to discuss joint strategies.

According to the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, European officials met with Israeli defence officials in Tel Aviv to discuss a military response against Iran.

The military also warned that it is planning to expand its assault on Lebanon.

In Gaza, Haaretz newspaper reported that Israeli forces are preparing for “intense manoeuvres”, particularly around the Netzarim Corridor.
