Israeli warplanes target Syria's Aleppo

Israeli warplanes have struck several sites in the Syrian city of Aleppo on Saturday, according to the Syrian defence ministry.

"Israel carried out an aerial aggression from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, west of Latakia, targeting a number of points south of the city of Aleppo," the statement said.

The Israeli military did not immediately confirm the attack.
