Israel's offensive set to wipe out nine percent of Lebanon's GDP: Report

Israel's war on Lebanon is set to wipe out nine percent of the Lebanese economy's wealth, as measured in GDP, the UN said on Wednesday.

“GDP is projected to decline by 9.2 percent compared to a no-war scenario, indicating a significant decline in economic activity as a direct consequence of the conflict,” the UN Development Programme said.

The economic toll, roughly $2bn, surpasses that of the 2006 Lebanon war.
