Rockets strike Italian UN peacekeepers' base in Lebanon

Eight rockets hit the headquarters of Italy’s UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, the Italian defence ministry said, adding that no injuries were reported.

The 107-millimetre rockets struck outdoor areas and a warehouse at the Shama base, where no soldiers were present at the time.

Italy has launched an investigation to determine the source and those responsible for the attack.

This marks the second such incident in a week. Last week, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani demanded an investigation after an artillery shell struck the base’s gym. The shell did not detonate, and no injuries were reported.
