US says its support to Israel against Hezbollah is ‘iron-clad’
The White House said that the attack on a football pitch in the Majdal Shams village in the occupied Golan Heights, which killed 11 youngsters, is “horrific,” expressing full support for Israel.
“Our support for Israel’s security is iron-clad and unwavering against all Iranian backed terrorist groups, including Lebanese Hezbollah,” said a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council in a statement.
Israel has blamed the Lebanese Hezbollah for carrying out the attack, stating that a rocket was launched from the southern Lebanese village od Sheba, which is located on the borders between Lebanon and the occupied Golan Heights.
But the Lebanese group denied any involvement in the attack in the village, where around 25,000 Druze people live.
“Hezbollah will pay a heavy price, the kind it has thus far not paid,” the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the leader of the Druze community in Israel in a phone call, according to a statement from his office.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese government has called for an end of all hostilities on all fronts.
