Police now say they are investigating the cause of the crash.

Times of Israel said there had been numerous reports in recent months that Ben Gvir's official vehicle had committed several traffic violations.

He was involved in another accident last August when his vehicle again ran a red light en route to an interview.

According to Israeli media, he regularly instructs his driver to ignore traffic rules.
