Israeli man fatally shot in Tel Aviv attack
An Israeli man was shot dead in an attack in Tel Aviv on Saturday, Israeli officials said.
Israel's national emergency rescue service, Magen David Adom, said that paramedics had tried to resuscitate the man as he was being taken to Ichilov Hospital.
The man, who is in his 40s, was a municipal patrol worker, according to Tel Aviv's mayor Ron Huldai.
The alleged attacker was also killed.
A statement from the Israeli police said the shooter was a 27 year-old resident of the Palestinian town of Jenin in the occupied West Bank. The Gaza-based Hamas group praised the attack but did not take responsibility.

Tel Aviv mayor Huldai said the municipal worker had approached the attacker after noticing something suspicious and was then fired at by the shooter. A second municipal worker then killed the shooter.
In brief statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the actions of the municipal patrol officers.
The shooting took place on a central street in Tel Aviv.
The incident happened one day after Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank fatally shot one Palestinian and wounded two others. The person killed was identified as 19-year-old Qusai Jamal Maatan.
