Libya Dawn fighters on Sunday say they "secured" the US embassy compound in Tripoli, whose personnel were evacuated on 26 July.
An unverified video circulated on social media claimed to show people jumping fully-clothed from the balcony of a large white building into a swimming pool beside it.
Deborah K. Jones, the US ambassador to Libya who was also evacuated after the recent uptick in violence in the capital, said on Twitter that the video appears to show “a residential annexe of the US mission.”
However, she said that, to her knowledge, the embassy compound is “being safeguarded and has not been ransacked.”
However, a Libyan official later told Anadolu that the US embassy has been under the control of Libya Dawn fighters for a week.
