A string of attacks against Egyptian police and soldiers continued with a policeman shot dead in Sinai on Monday and two others injured in separate incident in central Cairo on Tuesday.
The two Egyptian policemen and a civilian were wounded in a bomb attack targeting a security checkpoint in central Cairo on Tuesday, officials and a medic said.
The device, which was placed between two cars near the checkpoint at Al-Galaa Square in Dokki neighbourhood, exploded at about 7:15 am (5:15 GMT), a security official said.
Previously, security officials said that assailants threw a homemade bomb at the checkpoint.
An Egyptian policeman was shot dead late Monday in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, a security source said.

There was no comment from Egyptian authorities on the attack.
Militants based in the Sinai Peninsula have stepped up attacks on police and army soldiers following last summer's ouster of elected president Mohamed Morsi by the military.
The insurgency has spread to Cairo and other cities, where senior security officials have been targeted.
The Egyptian army launched a wide-scale military operation in Sinai in September with the stated aim of flushing out militants from the area.
On Monday, an Egyptian court issued a ruling obliging interim President Adly Mansour to designate the shadowy Ansar Beit al-Maqdis group, which has claimed responsibility for a string of recent attacks on security personnel in Sinai and elsewhere, as a terrorist organization.
Especially active in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, Ansar Beit al-Maqdis said it was behind several recent high-profile attacks, including a failed assassination attempt last September on Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim.
