In Pictures: Algeria football team returns home

Algeria's national team receives a warm welcome in Algiers after returning from Brazil where they took part in the World Cup

Algerian football fans welcomed their country's national team which retuned from Brazil after participating in the 2014 World Cup. They had broken their own record by passing the knock-out stage into round of 16 game, in which they faced the mighty team of Germany on Monday.

The Algerian team played with confidence throughout the 90 minutes, denying the Germans a victory till extra time.  The final result was 2-1 to Germany but the spectacular play of the Algerians won the admiration of many spectators, not least at home.

Algerian photographer Mohamed Kaouche captured the moments when cheering fans on Tuesday celebrated the presence of their national team among them.
