The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, confirmed that the two men were members.

The spokesperson of the Israeli army confirmed that an Israeli tank targeted an al-Qassam Brigades site, from which shots had allegedly been fired early on Tuesday.

The Israeli army posted footage on social media it said showed the two al-Qassam members shooting towards Israeli troops on Tuesday morning.

According to the Palestine Media Centre, the shelling targeted the Asqalan site, run by al-Qassam, in northern Gaza.
