Ambassadors to the UN from the US, UK and France walked out of an emergency United Nations Security Council session on the conflict in Syria on Sunday in protest of the growing "barbarism" of Russia and the Syrian government in Aleppo.

In a rare public diplomatic rift, the British ambassador to the UN Matthew Rycroft said that it is "difficult to deny that Russia is partnering with the Syrian regime to carry out war crimes".

Activists have documented at least 300 deaths from pro-government air strikes - 122 of whom were children - in Aleppo in the past six days.
