Israeli forces have shot and killed a Palestinian minor during demonstrations in Gaza on Friday, according to the blockaded Gaza Strip's helath ministry.

The ministry identified the slain boy as 15-year-old Moussa Ali Abu Shlouf, adding that he was shot in the stomach east of Jabaliya.

The ministry also reported that 17 other Palestinians were wounded, including a volunteer paramedic who sustained a hand injury caused by a tear gas canister in the same area.

Palestinians are demonstrating for the 54th week running in Gaza as part of the Great March of Return, calling for an end to the crippling 11-year blockade on the small coastal enclave as well as the implementation of the right of return for Palestinian refugees whose families were displaced during the creation of the state of Israel.

The protest movement marked its one-year anniversary on 30 March. The Israeli army killed four protesters that day, three of them minors.
