Jabhat Al-Nusra, or the Al-Nusra Front, have since their formation in January 2012 established themselves as one of the most fearsome groups fighting the forces of Bashar al-Assad in Syria.

Unlike their now more famous fellow travellers in the Islamic State, the Al-Nusra Front still claims to derive its authority from Ayman al-Zawahiri, leader of al-Qaeda.

Following our previous report from Aleppo, Middle East Eye's reporter travelled to a front set-up by the group against the Shiite-majority (and reportedly pro-regime) villages of Nobl and Zahraa, northwest of the city.
