Mahmoud Abbas calls Haniyeh's assassination a cowardly attack

The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has condemned the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political bureau. 

"We strongly condemn the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh," said Abbas.

"This act is both cowardly and dangerous. I urge our people to unite, remain patient, and stand firm against the Israeli occupation," he added according to Wafa, the Palestinian news agency.
