Palestinian teen shot dead by Israeli forces in West Bank town of Silwad
A Palestinian teenager was shot dead on Friday by Israeli military forces after a day of clashes in towns across the West Bank.
Orwa Hammad was killed by Israeli forces in the town of Silwad, near the West Bank city of Ramallah, medical officials and security sources told AFP.
Some commenters put Hammad's age at 17, although Palestinian news agency Ma'an said he was 14.
Two more Palestinians were injured by live fire from Israeli troops, one shot in the elbow and another shot in the knee, according to journalists at a hospital in Ramallah where the wounded were being treated.
Reports have circulated on Twitter that Palestinian Hammad is also an American citizen.
Ma’an News said the teen was shot “multiple times” with live bullets by Israeli soldiers.
Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces have clashed all Friday, after 21-year-old Abd al-Rahman al-Shaludi was shot dead by police when he attacked a light rail station in Jerusalem earlier this week – killing a three-year-old Israeli girl and injuring a number of others.
A number of Palestinians have been detained Friday, according to Ma’an, who reported a 14-year-old boy with special needs was arrested by Israeli soldiers.
Some protesters threw stones and Molotov cocktails at Israeli soldiers in several areas of East Jerusalem. Israeli soldiers fired stun grenades, rubber-coated bullets and “skunk” water back at the protesters.
Three Palestinians were reported injured by Ma’an, as clashes continued into the evening.
