Amjaad Al-Hussain
Amjaad Al-Hussain has never been to Yemen, but it’s very much a part of her identity. Born in New Jersey and raised in Falls Church, the Yemeni-American grew up immersed in Yemeni culture and traditions - including, of course, eating Yemeni food. She has documented her family recipes in a new self-published cookbook called Sifratna, meaning “our dining table.”
By day, Al-Hussain works for a genomics laboratory at the Inova Center for Personalized Health, where she leads product development of genomic services and test integration at the Inova Health System. By night, Al-Hussain is a professor at Georgetown University where she earned her own Master’s degree in Health Systems Administration in 2015.
