Peter Greste is a professor of journalism at Macquarie University, and a former foreign correspondent with the BBC and Al Jazeera. He and two colleagues were detained in Cairo in December 2013 and convicted of terrorism charges. They spent more than a year in prison before being released under intense international pressure.
