Israel's longest-serving leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, has been in power for roughly 17 years.

He began his career being a staunch critic of the Oslo peace process and attended far-right rallies where crowds chanted “death to Arabs”.

Over the years of his premiership, Israeli government and society increasingly leaned towards the far-right and undermined Palestinian right to self determination.
