Iranian arrested over bomb threat to Danish asylum centre
A 22-year-old Iranian man has been arrested in Denmark after threatening to blow himself up at an asylum centre on the island of Funen, Danish police said on Wednesday.
Police had established a no-fly zone over the area and evacuated the centre in the central city of Nyborg shortly before noon, but they said the restrictions had been lifted after the man had been detained "without drama" after talking to negotiators, according to a police statement.
The man was a resident in another asylum centre in Faaborg on Funen's west coast, police said.
Denmark's Jyllands-Posten newspaper reported that police gunmen had taken up positions on the roof prior to the man's arrest.
The asylum centre in Nyborg is run by the Asylcenter Holmgaarde organisation and is mostly home to families with children, with capacity for 500 residents.
