In Photos: Funeral for Mu'taz Hijazi in Jerusalem
Under heavy police presence, over 300 Palestinians attended the funeral of Mu'taz Hijazi late Thursday in Jerusalem.
Hijazi, a suspect in the shooting this week of right-wing Israeli activist Yehuda Glick, was killed early Thursday morning when Israeli police raided his home in the Jerusalem's Abu Tor neighbourhood.
Despite an Israeli court decision that only 45 family members could attend the funeral, hundreds of Palestinians, including family members and young people, defied police restrictions and attended the burial that stated before midnight.
Israeli police blocked the cemetery's main entrance, and people had to climb over fences to enter.
As Hijazi's body arrived, people chanted slogans calling for a new intifada.
On the way out, over 200 Israeli police waited outside, as those who attended marched and shouted slogans.
