Tiger spotted on the loose on Qatar motorway
Video footage posted to social media on Tuesday showed a tiger roaming the streets of the Qatari capital Doha.
A 25-second clip of the tiger was widely shared on Twitter, in which the wild animal walked along a packed motorway believed to be 22 February Street in the Rayan area of Doha.
The tiger was recorded a by someone sitting in a vehicle. It appeared to be a pet on the loose as it had a chain around its neck.
Middle East Eye was unable to verify the footage, but local sources confirmed the story and said the tiger has since been caught.
Local community forum Qatar Living shared a photo of the tiger after its recapture, showing the animal back on a chain.
One Twitter user said they had seen four men trying to bundle the tiger into the back of a van on the motorway.
Qatari authorities have previously warned against people keeping dangerous animals as pets.
Another video of the tiger was shared on Qatari social media.
It is not uncommon for people to have big cats as pets in Qatar, with Qatar Living in the past hosting advertisements for the sale of animals including Cheetahs.
