WATCH: Egypt's struggling economy makes for a tough Ramadan

Many Egyptian families say that a plummeting economy will mean they will face tough conditions this Ramadan

This time of year, Samy Abdullah Khalefa would normally be stocking up on luxury food items for Ramadan like nuts and dried fruits.

But Egypt's struggling economy has put a squeeze on Khalefa and many others, meaning this holiday season will be a sparse one - and also a tough one for market traders like Othman Salah.

At a time of year that should see Salah's biggest turnover, the nut and dried fruit seller in Cairo's Sayedda Zainab market, can't even move dates, the traditional food with which Muslims break their fast:
