A video showing a man in Saudi Arabia caught on secret camera while fondling and kissing a woman believed to be the family's maid has become the top hashtag on Twitter.
The video, according to social media users, was recorded covertly by the Saudi man's wife and was the highest global trending hashtag on Twitter on Monday morning.
The video has sparked a storm of discussion online.The hashtag, #SaudiWomanCatchesHusbandCheating, has attracted more than 25,000 mentions in less than 12 hours.
Despite issues surrounding adultery generally being considered a taboo subject in the Arab world, the discussion has seen people share experiences of finding their husband caught in similar compromising positions. The video also has spurred online discussion of the treatment of domestic workers in Saudi Arabia. According to Human Rights Watch, workers there often suffer psychological, physical and sexual violence with little recourse.
