One Palestinian killed, another critically wounded after stabbing in Jerusalem
One Palestinian was shot and killed and another was taken to a hospital in critical condition after allegedly stabbing and moderately wounding an Israeli police officer in the Old City of Jerusalem, Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told Middle East Eye.
At about 6pm local time (15.00 GMT) the two Palestinians, armed with knives, attacked a police officer in the old city, "moderately" injuring him, Rosenfeld said.
Other officers on the scene responded, shooting the two Palestinians, killing one and critically wounding the other.
Police said the Palestinians were both minors, but did not give their ages.
A bystander was also injured in the thigh, likely by shrapnel from bullets fired by police, Rosenfeld said.
Official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that witnesses saw an Israeli settler open fire along with the nearby police officers.
"The Red Crescent said while its ambulances were able to transport a Palestinian who was shot in the thigh to a hospital in East Jerusalem for treatment, they were not allowed by police to reach the other wounded Palestinian, who was taken away by an Israeli ambulance and held in custody," the Wafa report said.
None of the people involved in the incident have been identified by officials.
