In pictures: Protests around the world decry Israeli violence in Jerusalem and Gaza
As Israeli attacks in Jerusalem intensify, solidarity protests have taken place in Ankara (main picture), London (pictured above), Washington, Rabat, Amman, Beirut, Cape Town, Toronto, Munich, and Kuwait City, among others. More protests are expected, following the launch of Israel's air offensive - dubbed "Guardian of the Walls" - on the Gaza Strip. The first strike of the operation on Monday evening resulted in more than two dozen deaths, including at least 10 children.
The most recent bout of upheaval was sparked last week in the occupied East Jerusalem neighbourhood of Sheikh Jarrah, where 40 Palestinians, including 10 children, face imminent forced evictions from their homes (Reuters)
In Turkey's Ankara and Istanbul, thousands of people marched on Israel's diplomatic offices.
The Israeli embassy in Ankara was surrounded by protesters defying a Covid lockdown, calling for Turkey to send soldiers to al-Aqsa Mosque, which has been under daily attack by Israeli forces (Reuters)
In Istanbul, demonstrators ended their march outside the Israeli consulate, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans of solidarity.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has been attempting to repair Turkey's downgraded relations with Israel, called Israel a "terror state" over the weekend.
On Tuesday, Turkey withdrew an invitation extended to Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz for an international diplomacy conference set to take place in Antalya in June (Reuters)
Solidarity protests also took place throughout last week and into Tuesday in Jordan, one of the first Arab countries to normalise relations with Israel (Reuters)
Thousands of protesters gathered near Israel's embassy in the Jordanian capital Amman, calling on their government to scrap its peace accord with Israel.
Meanwhile, Jordan summoned Israel's envoy in protest at the ongoing violence against Palestinians at al-Aqsa Mosque, as King Abdullah II urged Israel to respect international law (Reuters)

Morocco signed a normalisation deal with Israel in December after the US, under former President Donald Trump, promised recognition of Morocco's claims to Western Sahara, an area considered occupied under international law.
Protesters in Rabat chanted slogans against the normalisation deal.
"The [Arab] regimes are making deals with [Israel] and the people will resist," they chanted, along with "the people want to criminalise normalisation with Israel" and other slogans (MEE/Mosa'ab Elshamy)
