Each year millions of Muslim faithful gather in the holy city of Mecca to perform the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj.
The event is one of the largest annual religious pilgrimages in the world, averaging just over two million people coming to Saudi Arabia from across the globe.
Many pilgrims attending will have saved up for the journey their entire lives and the rite is obligatory for every Muslim who can afford to attend.
Believers go with the intention of asking forgiveness for their sins and many use the occasion as an opportunity to start their lives anew.
