Aine Davis to stand trial next year on Syria-related terrorism charges
A British man arrested on Syria-related terrorism charges after being deported from Turkey last month will stand trial in February next year, London’s Old Bailey criminal court heard on Friday.
Aine Davis, who was arrested at Luton Airport on 10 August, faces two charges relating to alleged terror funding in 2014 and a further charge of the alleged possession of a firearm for a purpose connected with terrorism between July 2013 and January 2014.
Davis, 38, has not entered any pleas for any of the charges.
Davis was remanded in custody after a hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 11 August, when his case was referred to the Old Bailey, which typically hears cases relating to allegations of serious crime and terrorism.
He attended a short pretrial hearing on Friday via videolink from Belmarsh Prison.
A plea hearing was scheduled for 23 December, with a trial date set for 27 February 2023.
