Gaza's Ramadan football tournaments unite community, showcase talent

During the holy month of Ramadan, a neighbourhood football tournament, locally known as Dawrii El Harat, is held across refugee camps in the Gaza Strip. The local tournament has become an annual tradition, offering junior players the chance to showcase their football skills.

Gaza resident Issa Shlolah shares how the football league brings people together in large numbers from all over Rafah. The tournament features 32 teams, with players of various ages participating. Kamel Aiadi, a former player of the Palestinian National team, speaks about the unique mood and loving atmosphere these events create, uniting people of all ages.

Other players point out the challenges faced due to increasing population density and the limited availability of football fields. Despite the obstacles, the spirit of sportsmanship and community bonding remains strong during the Ramadan football tournaments.
