Israeli forces killed a Palestinian man on Friday near the occupied West Bank city of Tubas during a two-hour raid in which it used missiles and explosives to attack a home in the city.

Abdul Rahim Fayez Ghannam, 36, was fatally shot in the head, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.

Israeli troops raided Aqaba town, located northwest of Tubas, in the early morning and surrounded a Palestinian home to arrest a man inside suspected of shooting at Israeli settlers last month, according to local media

The house was attacked by shoulder-launched missiles and stun grenades to unsettle the people inside. An AFP photographer reported seeing black smoke billowing from a building.

During the raid, armed Palestinians in the town clashed with Israeli soldiers. There were no reports of Israeli casualties.

After the two-hour-long operation, Israeli forces withdrew from the town without arresting the wanted man. Three other Palestinians were detained.

Earlier on Thursday, a Palestinian man was shot dead after he allegedly rammed Israelis with his car at a military checkpoint near Ramallah, killing one soldier and wounding six others.

According to a tally by Middle East Eye, at least 217 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces this year, including 38 children.

A total of 181 people have died in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, making 2023 one of the bloodiest years in the occupied territory. Another 36 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Palestinians have killed at least 30 Israelis in the same period, including six children.
