In a message shared on his social media accounts, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will continue its military campaign in Gaza with an offensive in Rafah, and will fight "until complete victory".

A group of pro-Palestinian demonstrators brought traffic to a standstill on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California, on Wednesday.

The protesters stood side-by-side across all lanes of the bridge, and held up banners saying “Stop Arming Israel” and “Hands off Rafah”.

“The cities of San Francisco, Oakland, and Richmond are some of the first and largest cities to call for a ceasefire, and 68% of US voters support a ceasefire. This is not controversial or complicated - It is about honoring basic human rights for the Palestinian people,” Bridget Rochios, a protester, said in a statement shared with MEE.

“Every day that the US shamelessly continues to support this genocide, the calls for freedom for the Palestinian people from occupation are increasing among communities, institutions, and governments.”

The action follows similar pro-Palestine protests disrupting traffic in major metropolitan areas across the US.

Israel is forcibly removing Palestinians from Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in southern Gaza at gunpoint. Thousands of Palestinians have sought refuge there, while Israel claims the hospital is housing Hamas fighters.

Dr Khaled Asreer, one of the last remaining surgeons in Nasser Hospital, told Middle East Eye that he had seen three Palestinians killed at the northern gate of the hospital and that others were made to walk through an Israeli cordon of tanks and soldiers.

Al Jazeera journalist Hani Mahmoud in Rafah, southern Gaza, said that facial recognition cameras were being used on those leaving.

Elsewhere, tensions have also escalated in southern Lebanon's border with Israel, with no let up in attacks by Hezbollah and other armed groups on Israeli positions and Israeli air strikes within Lebanon.

At least one Israeli soldier was killed earlier on Wednesday and eight others were wounded in rocket strikes that Israel says came from southern Lebanon. Hezbollah has yet to claim responsibility.

Israel's communications ministry said it has approved the use of Starlink satellite internet services inside Israel, as well as at a field hospital in Gaza being operated by the United Arab Emirates.

"The Israeli security authorities approved the provision of Starlink services at the UAE's field hospital operating in Rafah. Starlink low-latency, high-speed connections will enable video conferencing with other hospitals and real-time remote diagnostics," the ministry said in a statement.

The Elon Musk-owned Starlink is a network of satellites that provides high-speed internet to customers across the world.

Musk previously offered its use to aid groups operating in Gaza, where telecommunications have been repeatedly cut off by Israel. However, previous reports stated that Israel would have to approve of its operation.

French President Emmanuel Macron's office said in a statement on Wednesday that Macron, in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had expressed his firm opposition to a possible Israeli military offensive in Rafah, southern Gaza.

"This could only lead to a humanitarian catastrophe of a new magnitude and to forced displacement of populations, which would constitute violations of international human rights and bring additional risk of regional escalation," it said.
