In northern Iraq, refugees fleeing fighting with the Islamic State group are experiencing a harsher Ramadan than usual.
Complimenting the fast they have a shortage of food, water and other.
The usual tradition of sharing food with less fortunate neighbours has been forgone by many and for most just having enough to survive is at the forefront of their minds.
Middle East Eye travelled to a refugee camp in northern Iraq to get a first hand look at the conditions.
