A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip in the early hours of Tuesday landed near the Arab town of Kafr Qasim in central Israel, the Israeli army said.

“Earlier this evening, a rocket fired from Gaza hit an open area near Kafr Qasim in central Israel, nearly 100 km from Gaza,” the military said on its Twitter account, without saying whether it caused any injuries or damage.

Some 18,000 people attend the funeral of sgt. Nissim Sean Carmeli, 21, in Haifa. 

The Texas-born solider was killed on Saturday and is what is known as a "lone soldier" someone who decides to leave their family to immigrate to Israel, usually to serve in the Israeli military.

The US issues travel warning to Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.

"The Department of State recommends that US citizens consider the deferral of non-essential travel to Israel and the West Bank and reaffirms the longstanding strong warning to US citizens against any travel to the Gaza Strip," the State Department said.

A young man, named by social media users as Mahmoud al-Shawamira, has reportedly been shot by settlers in Hizma, an Arab town surrounded by Israeli settlements in the Jerusalem governorate.

There are reports that a demonstration protesting at his killing is now underway.

Two settlers have been reported injured in the last hour by satelite channel al-Quds.

A woman was taken to hospital after being shot from a car passing at speed in the settlement town of Ariel.

A man was injured by fire from a pistol in the settlement town of Rechelem east of Ariel.

Meanwhile 20 Palestinians have been injured by the Israeli army during a demonstration in Hebron, reports Palestine Today.

Nine Palestinians have been injured in clashes to the north of Jerusalem after the death of a young man thought to be Mahmoud al-Shawamira, reports Palestine Today.

Large numbers of injured Palestinians have been arriving at Gaza's hospitals, as fierce strikes on houses in Gaza continue.

A few minutes ago Gaza's Health Ministry announced that 60 people had been injured in a strike on a house in al-Shati refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip.

566 Palestinians are now dead, and over 3,600 injured.

Egypt has refused to accept a Tunisian plane bound for Gaza packed with medical supplies, reports daily newspaper al-Sabeel.

Rashid al-Ghannoushi, who heads up Tunisia's al-Nahda party, told Al-Jazeera that Egypt had refused to allow the plane to land at the airport nearest to the Gaza Strip.

The head of the Arab League, Nabil al-Arabi, has said that he hopes Hamas will accept a ceasefire proposal put forward by Egypt.

After talks with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Arabi told reporters that the draft agreement meets many of Hamas's demands.

"Hamas wants an end to the Gaza seige, and the Egyptian initiative calls for opening the Gaza crossings, which means ending the blockade."

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri has said that Egypt has no plans to introduce amendments to the draft ceasefire they proposed a week ago.

The statement calls into question earlier reports, which quoted senior officials as saying that they would make concessions for Hamas, who rejected the draft proposal outright.

al-Quds News Network is reporting a huge fire which broke out in Kufr Qasim, an Arab Israeli town 20 kilometres east of Tel Aviv.

According to the site, the fire is the result of a "Palestinian rocket fired by the resistance."
