Trump supporters violently stormed the US Capitol building on Wednesday, causing lawmakers to recess today's congressional certification of President-elect Joe Biden's 2020 election win.

As thousands of Trump supporters surrounded the US Capitol and called for the US election to be overturned, some broke their way into the building.

Representative David Trone posted several photos of himself in an emergency gas mask inside the Capitol just before evacuating to an undisclosed location.
"I am safe. We have been evacuated. Let me be clear: we will not be stopped by this lawless intimidation," he tweeted (Twitter/@RepDavidTrone)
