German airliner Lufthansa said it had resumed flights to Cairo after suspending its operations to Egypt on Saturday.

Lufthansa suspended flights to the Egyptian capital from Frankfurt and Munich, alongside British Airways due to "security concerns".

BA will continue with its suspension for another six days and said it will "constantly" be reviewing the security situation.

The British airliner suspended flights to Cairo after the UK Foreign Office updated its travel advice and said there was a "heightened risk of terrorism against aviation".

In a statement on Saturday, BA said: "We constantly review our security arrangements at airports all around the world, and have suspended flights for seven days as a precaution to allow for further assessment.

It added: "The safety and security of our customers is a priority, and we would never operate an aircraft unless it was safe to do so."

Disgruntled passengers posted on social media a letter given to them by BA that was somewhat similar to the statement the flag carrier released on its website.
