“The real terrorist in Egypt is Sisi. He is terrorising all families.”
Celebrated civil engineer and outspoken opposition voice Mamdouh Hamza talks to MEE Editor-in-Chief David Hearst about the multiple crises facing Egypt, from the Renaissance Dam in Ethiopia threatening the country’s water supply, to the country’s crumbling infrastructure and rising inflation under the reign of what he describes as its worst leader in its modern history.
Hamza was forced to flee the country after he was convicted with terrorism charged in absentia in October 2020, after he became vocally critic of Egypt’s president.
