The Moroccan royal court has defended its relationships with Israel in a statement released on Monday, saying its position towards Israel was irreversible.
The statement came in response to a statement released by Morocco’s Justice and Development Party (PJD) which last week said it “deplored” the position taken by the foreign minister in which he appeared to defend Israel in African and European meetings whilst Israeli forces were committing “criminal aggression” against Palestinians.
In December 2020, Morocco normalised relations with Israel in a US-brokered deal that was condemned by Palestinians, as well as by many Moroccans, who have long held a stance of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
