Timeline: Attacks in Paris

In a press conference on Saturday, France's public proseutor François Molins provided a timeline of events of the attacks in Paris that took place on Friday night.

At the conference, he also released details of the gunmen at the Bataclan.

• 9:20PM Paris time: The first explosion took place at the Stade de France. It took place at Gate D outside the stadium.

• 9:25PM: Gunmen sitting a car and wielding AK-47s fired at people in Paris' Le Carillon bar and at the Le Petit Cambodge restaurant, killing 15 people.

• 9:30PM: A second explosion took place at Gate H of the Stade de France. Police discovered the body of a suicide bomber on the scene, similar to the one that had been found in front of Gate D.

• 9:32PM: At the corner of the Rue du Faubourg-du-Temple and the rue de la Fontaine-au-Roi, another shooting incident took place in front of the bar A la Bonne Biere, killing five people and seriously wounding eight.

• 9:36PM: At 92 rue de Charonne, fresh outbursts of gunfire killed 19 people.

• 9:40PM: At 2253 boulevard Voltaire, at the Comptoir Voltaire restaurant, a suicide bomber exploded his device, wounding one person seriously and lightly injuring others. Also around the same time a black Polo car is parked in front of the Bataclan. Three people armed with assault rifles broke into the hall, and sprayed the audience with gunfire. They took people hostage in the orchestra pit. According to the public prosecutor, the attackers talked about France's involvement in Syria and Iraq. 

• 9:53PM: At Saint-Denis, 400 metres from the stadium, rue de la Cocker, a third explosion took place. A body of a suicide bomber was later found.

All three gunmen were killed when police raided the Bataclan. One gunman was killed by police while the other two committed suicide by activating their explosive belts.

Molins went on to say: “At this stage in the investigation, that very likely there were three teams of terrorists who co-ordinated with each other, and are the cause of these atrocities. The investigation will seek to establish their accomplices, their organisers, their movements and how this operation was financed.”

“I can say, at this stage, that the terrorist in charge of the taking of hostages at the Bataclan has been formally identified. He is an individual born on 21 November 1985 at Courcouronnes, and known by the courts for 8 common law offences between 2004 and 2010. [He] had never been in prison but was the object of a S Notice in 2010 for radicalisation. He has never been implicated in or associated with terrorists.”

Molins added that the body next to the first suicide bomber, a Syrian passport was found. The passport indicated that the person was on born on September 1990 and not known by French intelligence agencies.

He also said that seven attackers used assault rifles with 7.62 caliber weapons, and identical explosives. Each gunman wore an explosive belt with TATP explosive, and a trigger using the same buttons and batteries.
