Middle East teams made a splash at the Olympics this year, with 663 athletes from 19 different countries all striving to secure a medal.
In the end, Iran and Turkey came out ahead with eight medals each but the two-week games did not go off without incident with Lebanese, Syrian and Saudi delegates all causing a stir by refusing to play or share facilities with the Israeli team.
