Messi faces two-week suspension from Paris Saint-Germain over Saudi Arabia trip

World Cup champion Lionel Messi may be suspended by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), various media outlets in France have claimed, after the 35-year-old travelled to Saudi Arabia to fulfil commitments for a commercial contract promoting tourism in the kingdom without the club’s permission.

Messi took part in a match on Sunday which ended in PSG's surprise 3-1 loss to Lorient. As his club had lost the game, the coach cancelled the usual rest day, meaning Messi was missing from the training session on Monday - leading to disciplinary action.

Reports that contract talks with PSG have broken down are leading to speculation about where the football star would play next.
