Israeli forces violently attacked activists taking part in a demonstration against the pending eviction of Palestinian families from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in occupied East Jerusalem on Friday. The police also reportedly used clubs and a noxious substance known as "skunk water" to disperse the activists.
Sheikh Jarrah has been a significant flashpoint in recent years, after Israel tried to expel Palestinian families from the area in May 2021 to make way for Israeli settlers.
The violence led to widespread protests in the occupied West Bank and a large-scale military operation in the besieged Gaza Strip.
