Nine people have been arrested on suspicion of "encouraging terrorism" in London, including Islamist activist Anjem Choudary.
All nine are aged between 22 and 47 and are being held at stations in central London.
Choudary, was previously a solicitor before he helped found the Al-Qaeda inspired Al-Muhajiroun organisation who first hit headlines after organising a conference called "The Magnificent 19" praising the 9/11 bombers.
Choudary and his followers have openly voiced support for the Islamic State, though it is not clear if this was a factor in their arrests.
Police have said the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation and there was no immediate threat.
